Check it out – Coming soon: Vegan Beauty and Wellness
Many of you know that I have been the face of Misfit Metal & Wood and Misfit Living for many years. But what you don’t know is that I have another side of me that washes away the sawdust, metal grindings, and paint over-spray… to reveal a feminine side of vegan beauty and wellness.
You might ask, “What exactly is vegan beauty and wellness?”. Well… read on further for a sneak peak to how I am reaching out to the masses to help people understand what is still being added to our face wash/shampoo, and to reveal what had to die to test that claim of reducing our wrinkles… and to show if it actually works… You have questions and I’m delving into the answers because WE EXPECT MORE…
What is Coming soon…
I have researched top reputable sources on exactly who is, what is, and how product misconceptions are being twisted to mislead consumers within the beauty and wellness industry. I’m here to let you in on the secrets to what is still being put into your beauty products and how they are still being tested.
What you need to ask yourself –
- Do you like putting animal by-products on your face and in your hair (like cow fat and pulverized fish scales)?
- Do you trust the company who tells you that their product it is going to work for your special needs because they tested it? (Hey if it worked on a rat it’s going to work on you right???), and…
- Do you actually KNOW what those words mean on the label of your product?
- Squalene (shark liver oil),
- Guanine (luminous white bird poop), or
- Lanolin (sheep grease).
What you wear might make you sick –
You might like your Dove… you might like your Maybelline… or even that fine perfume, but when I see an advertisement of some pretty young celebrity endorsing products, I’m yelling at the TV… “Oh yuk… don’t do it…” then BAM, they just smeared horse urine all over their arms, puckered up to the audience with dead beetles all over their lips, and then sprayed themselves with whale vomit. Somehow that pretty young celebrity isn’t so pretty after all (insert sick vomit sound here…🤢🤮)
Yes, Dove does not test on animals but they use animal-derived ingredients… so they are cruelty free but not vegan… (doesn’t make a lot of sense) and although Maybelline is vegan (does not use animal-derived ingredients), they still test on animals (so they are not cruelty free)… but to those of us with common sense… we understand cruelty free is still not killing animals to use as ingredients from the beginning.
Why is all of this important –
A New Generation – Trying something different means trying something that shakes our preconceived notion of what “works” in our status quo. I had acne until I was 45 years old. I used a special soap to keep my acne away but it was made from animal by-products and made my skin dry and tight. I switched to vegan face wash and it actually works BETTER… no dryness, no acne, smooth moisturized skin, and an even skin tone (I don’t even have to wear makeup).
My hair is curly but was always frizzy. I kept it in a pony tail because it looked better up than down (and it stayed away from tickling my face). I was given vegan hair shampoo and conditioner and now my curls are so defined, my hair looks so full and healthy, and now I WANT keep it down because it looks better (and the frizz doesn’t tickle my face anymore).
Just because some companies have been around and are still utilizing old methods of adding animal by-products into the manufacturing process and then testing them on animals… it doesn’t mean they still work the best. Hey it’s a new generation… and we don’t want that crap, we don’t need that crap, and we won’t WEAR that crap. We expect MORE. We want VEGAN (no animal by-products), we want NATURAL PLANT BASED, and we want CRUELTY-FREE – We want Leaping Bunny Certified.
“Not tested on animals” is one of the most important issues addressing shoppers looking to buy beauty products. In the US and Canada achievement of this standard is a written statement of compliance, however it does not pertain to third party partners who have their hand in product development (ie… China).
The “Leaping Bunny” is the most ridged and globally trusted cruelty free certification for non-animal tested products This certification surpasses written agreements via mandatory compliance audits and includes mandatory compliance of third-party partners.
